Youth Programme

Our youths today face all types of challenges as they struggle with confidence, fear, bullying or other external influences.  Our youth programme equips young people with good leadership skills and how to become a person of influence. The programme also enables them to develop a positive self-image and personal character.  The programme runs over a six weeks period (one and a half hours per week). Participants will be taught the importance of leadership and how they can use their voice and presence to create a positive impact on people around them.

Although there are existing programs for young people such as National Citizen Service, young mayor, school prefects etc, these programs create an opportunity for young people to lead but there is limited guidance on how to develop as leaders. Leadership is a process and if young people are exposed to the principles of leadership earlier in their lives, they can begin to develop the knowledge and the skills required to be good leaders. On completion, students will be equipped the skills to lead themselves and others and also gain mutual respect.

Participants will be introduced to:

  • Leadership and influence: an understanding of leadership and its relevance in our lives.
  • Self-awareness (strengths and weaknesses) and how our values can influence our behaviour.
  • The importance of integrity, moral values and its relevance to young leaders.
  • Appreciate the importance of perseverance and diligence to achieve excellence
  • Develop an appropriate character that is dependable and enables them to make the right choices.

This programme is part of the John  Maxwell YouthMax initiative. The objective is to help young people acquire the right skills and attitude to become leaders who can make a positive impact in their environment.
